Cookies...A Dozen Ways

This recipe is from DK's The Baking Book by Jane Bull.
Did you know that
October 1 is National Homemade Cookies Day?
"Cookies are made with butter and love." - Norwegian Proverb
Basic Dough:
1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)

Put in a bowl and rub together between your thumb and fingertips.
You can make these into shortbread cookies at this point by rolling into ping-pong sized balls and press with a fork.

Or,
You can make them into any one of these 10 cookies by adding any one of the following to taste:
1. Chocolate Chips
2. Cocoa Powder (@ 4 Tabs.)
3. Coconut (@1/2 cup)
4. Cinnamon (@2 teaspoons)
5. M & M's
6. Peanut butter and Peanuts (about 2 Tab. each)
7. Raisins (@1/3 cup)
8. Almond Extract and an Almond on top of each cookie
9. Sprinkles (@4 Tabs.)
10. Chopped Nuts (@1/2 cup)
11. Or, you can roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch and cut out with cookie cutters

Bake 325 degree F oven for 15-20 minutes.
