Black Eyed Peas

This recipe comes from Recipes for You. I cook a pound of bacon separately so my vegetarian husband can eat them and the rest of us crumble bacon on top of our servings. The rest of the bacon is made into sandwiches.

1 pound dried black eyed peas, rinsed but not soaked
1 can Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chiles)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
4 slices precooked bacon
4 cup water
1 tea. Liquid Smoke, optional

Place everything into a slow cooker and cook on low 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
