Gyros with Tzatziki Sauce

2 lbs. ground lamb (Or Meatloaf mix or a mixture of lamb and veal and/or hamburger)
1/2 cup minced red onion
4 cloves garlic, minced
4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. black pepper
3 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. dried oregano
4 tsp. fresh lemon juice

8 rounds of flat bread or pita.

sliced or chopped cucumber
diced onion
tomato; sliced

Put all of the first nine ingredients in a large frying pan and cook until browned. Spoon into a pita pocket. Spread on tzatziki sauce. Add lettuce,cucumber, onion and diced tomato to taste. If you use flat bread, wrapping in foil helps hold things together while you eat it.

Tzatziki Sauce
2 cups plain yogurt
8 garlic cloves, diced
1 lemon; juiced
4 tsp. finely chopped mint
1/2 cup finely chopped cucumber without seeds
Salt to taste

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. The sauce is better if you allow it to sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours before using.
